The Celestine Prophecy is a 1993 novel by James Redfield. As of May 2005, it had sold over 20 million copies worldwide and had been translated into 34 languages. A movie of the same title, based on the book, was released in 2006. People love prophecies. Part of the insecurities, into which most humans are force-educated.

In this book you can find a bunch of psychological and spiritual ideas which are often typically New Age. Many ideas are described such as vegetarianism helping an individual to establish a connection with the Divine. Perhaps this means that the Inuit never can achieve such a thing ... which I doubt. 

The book is a first-person story of spiritual awakening.  Typically, the story teller describes himself as having already some unusual outlook, which typically can lead us to perceive and explore instances of synchronicity, which is the realization that coincidences are sometimes no accident, and that such things may have deep meanings.

Aided by a great travel deal, he finds himself en route to Peru only three hours later. On the airplane, he meets a scientist who is also interested in the manuscript, and learns that there is opposition to the dissemination of the Insights. This is dramatically illustrated when authorities try to arrest, and then shoot down, the scientist soon after their arrival - ideas of conspiracy always add credibility to otherwise crackpottish ideas. 

The narrator then learns the Insights, one by one, often experiencing the Insight before actually reading the text, while the Church and the Peruvian government are trying to hunt him down.
